I’m all moved in now to my new place, something that has been 2 months in the making. What I haven’t really revealed up to this point is the fact that the new place is a mobile home.
When you tell somebody that you live in a mobile home, most will think of terms like “trailer trash“, with images of older trailers that resemble shanties and pink flamingos in the yard. This place really isn’t like that. Most of the trailers are newer (mine is a 2000) that look like a house at first glance. While mine is a single-wide (a single trailer, as opposed to two trailers put together), it is a large single-wide, at 1200 square feet. That’s bigger than the houses that were in our price range.
And at $20,000, we couldn’t beat the price. The mortgage, taxes, and insurance are only $300, and that is with a 10 year note. After a few years, we may buy a piece of land to move our home to and not have to pay lot rent any more.
