Could my return to work be around the corner? The scheduling manager called today while I was driving and didn’t leave a message. When I called back he was in a meeting. 9am is rather early to be calling about tomorrow (schedule is usually done and calls made more like 4-7pm) and pretty late to be calling about today, so I’m not really sure what to make of it. But my fingers are crossed.
It’s that time again, where I look at my net worth and see how I’ve been doing. I was actually pleasantly surprised. The closing on our mobile home was last month and we did sell it for a slight loss. Actually, we did sell it for a little more than we bought it for, but fees ate that entirely and we lost about $2000 of our deposit.
Helping things along was the fact that we have received our Federal income tax return but are still shopping for a washer and dryer. We are trawling Craigslist now because the best price we have found for a set so far is $750. When most other models are more than that each, it seems like a good price, but my mother’s 20 year old washer looks like it is more up-to-date than this one.
Cash $5885 Up $1647. Some of this is savings for self-employment taxes, some is the tax return that we haven’t had a chance to use.
Retirement Savings $7864 Up $294
Car: $0 Still junk.
TOTAL ASSETS: $13,750
Cirrus car loan: $699
Credit Cards: $4238 Down $1500 because we paid off my wife’s credit card with the proceeds from the sale
Student Loans: $31,387 Down $150. In three more months, I will see a thousands digit change finally!
Outstanding Medical Bills: $5015 Down $90 Now that the repayment period for my wife’s medical loan has started, these numbers should change at a visibly accelerating pace.
Home Loan: This is no longer!
TOTAL LIABILITIES: $41,340
Compared to last month, net worth has increased by roughly the amount of our tax return. So next month will see a dip, before I start posting gains again.
P.S. Instead of doing link roundups that I always forget to do, I’m going to try to link to mentions as they happen. This week, I was in Carnival of Personal Finance #399 at Narrow Bridge Finance with my rant about extreme debt repayment stories.
